Digital Wedding Secrets is a ‘must read’ book for anyone interested in photography. Everyone can benefit from this eBook even if you are just an amateur and not even interested in having a photography business. Of course the best people to benefit from this book is the wedding photographer who may know a lot of things there is to know about wedding photography tips but definitely not everything. The professional photographers knows a lot of tricks to the trade and they can share opinions and techniques in blog and forums, but only Digital Wedding Secrets can do justice to the teaching and coaching.
Here are the five tips that I learned from this book:
Tip #1:
The first and best thing that could be done as wedding photographer is to ask the couple what kind of shots they want to have taken. Some couples have their own ideas and it would be a big mistake to overlook their vision. Never insist on your vision, this can only irritate them. Then after you have their ideas listed down and noted, start talking about what you know works for wedding pictures and see if they are agreeable. If they are not, do not insist.
Tip #2:
Always bring something extra whether it is a camera or the battery pack and charger, even the rolls of film, you have to be always prepared for the worst case scenario. Being prepared is being prepared, not being paranoid. If the wedding couple sees that you are ready, they will have ease of mind.
Tip #3:
Remember, you are the photographer. There are really some members of the wedding party who may know a thing or two about photography and consider themselves experts. They may attempt to divert your attention to doing something else according to how they envision the wedding to be. Always hold on to the list that you developed with the wedding couple. If you divert from it and they get disappointed they would be the first to not ever recommend you.
Tip #4
There are a lot of high tech cameras now that you may own and they have memory cards. Do not delete anything even if the picture is not good enough. It is better if you include the price of the memory card in your package which the couple could keep so that if they need to have anything reprinted, they will have the memory card to rely on. Also, there are times when the printing goes wrong and you need to get back to the picture in the memory card.
Tip #5:
Do not just capture images: capture the emotions on film, even if it is an inanimate object. When you first talk to the couple, ask them to bring something which means a lot to both of them. It could be a toy, a t-shirt, even a dog or a cat. Just ask them to bring it over so you could take pictures of it. This way the pictures can be incorporated into the video and the finished album which would complete the circle of their life together before and during the wedding.
